24/08/2017 - Further Roads and Ferry Service Update

 

Donegal County Council is continuing to assess the impact of the heavy rainfall on roads in Donegal and can confirm the following road updates for the Inishowen area:

 

R238 Three Trees – Debris Removal & Strengthening – Projected open to traffic  6pm this evening  - single lane traffic with traffic lights

 

R238 Cockhill – Debris Removal & Assessment – Open

 

R244 Craignahorna – Masonary Arch Collapse – Not Feasible in the short term, local diversions remain in place

 

R240 Riverside – Concrete Structure Collapse – Not Feasible in the short term, local diversions remain in place

 

R238 Gortaran – Debris Removal, Assessment & Parapet replacement – Open

 

The Foyle Ferry Service has extended its service and will run until 10.00pm tonight. It will also run from 8.00am tomorrow morning until 10.00pm tomorrow night.

 

Donegal County Council is asking all road users to exercise due care and attention when travelling on roads particularly in the North Donegal area due to the scale of damage from the floods last night.  We are continuing to assess the damage caused in the areas affected by the flooding.
